Reflection on Feedback for
Assignment 1
I am happy to have received some positive feedback on my first assignment and the comments were fair and constructive. I feel like I have more information about what is expected in producing these assignments as well as a better general understanding of what is needed in my own research and study. As a beginner in this course and having not done any academic work for sixteen years, I am pleased that I still have some skills in studying and I am happy to take on the suggestions to further my education.
I will edit my assignment in accordance with my tutors suggestions, such as:
- Adding an introduction. I think I left this out initially because i felt that the essay was too short and had a limited word count. I now understand why it is important in any essay.
- Adding details about the piece and reflections including the title, the type of work it is and the additional perspective of the participants in the piece in regards to the impact on the audience and the participants themselves.
- Including quotes from critics and theorists, I need to study the Harvard referencing system again.
I am concerned about how to incorporate these additions within the word count limit but I think it will help me to keep precise and to the point, which is a good habit to practice.
The Learning Log
I have created a tab system and a search bar as my tutor suggested because I agree that I need to make specific pieces of work more easily to locate. I will also be labelling my work in a more specific manner, for example, 'part 1 assignment 1'.
I will also create a page per section for my additional research and further reading.
Suggested Reading
I am pleased with the helpful comments here, my tutor suggested dipping into books and reading relevant chapters as opposed to reading the entire book. This is reassuring! I feel more confident in exploring more using my own research.
I will also study some of the artists I have discovered in this unit and continue to research them as I proceed through the course.
I will be taking on the above feedback as I progress through the next unit, and build on the areas for development as I continue. I fully agree with my tutor on all the points they made and feel more confident in going forward.
